Google Search (or Google Web Search) is a web search engine owned by Google Inc. Google Search is the most-used search engine on the World Wide Web, receiving several hundred million queries each day through its various services.

Google is one of the five most popular websites in the world. It is a web search engine that lets you find other sites on the web based on keyword searches. Google also provides specialized searches through blogs, catalogs, videos, news items and more.

The order of search results on Google's search-results pages is based, in part, on a priority rank called a "PageRank". Google Search provides many options for customized search, using Boolean operators such as exclusion ("-xx"), alternatives ("xx OR yy")
The main purpose of Google Search is to hunt for text in publicly accessible documents offered by web servers such as Google Image Search. Google Search was originally developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin in 1997. Google Search provides at least 22 special features beyond the original word-search capability.
Google is a multinational, publicly-traded organization built around the company's hugely popular search engine. Google's other enterprises include Internet analytics, cloud computing, advertising technologies, and Web app, browser and operating system development.
In June 2011, Google introduced "Google Voice Search" and "Search by Image" features for allowing the users to search words by speaking and by giving images.
In May 2012, Google introduced a new Knowledge Graph semantic search feature to customers in the U.S.

Yahoo: Yahoo! Inc. is an American multinational internet corporation headquartered in Sunnyvale, California.

It is widely known for its web portal, search engine Yahoo! Search, and its related services, including Yahoo! Directory, Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Groups, Yahoo! Answers, advertising, online mapping, video sharing. It is one of the most popular sites in the United States. According to news sources, roughly 700 million people visit Yahoo! websites every month. Yahoo! itself claims it attracts "more than half a billion consumers every month in more than 30 languages."
Yahoo! Inc. was founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo in January 1994 and was incorporated on March 1, 1995. On July 16, 2012, former Google executive Marissa Mayer was named as Yahoo! CEO and President, effective July 17.

Yahoo! doesn’t develop its own search algorithm – instead licensing Google to power searches on Yahoo.com. Starting in 2000 this 4 year arrangement gave Google so much exposure that people eventually bypassed Yahoo! altogether.

The word "yahoo" is an acronym for "Yet Another Hierarchical Officious Oracle".
The term "hierarchical" described how the Yahoo! database was arranged in layers of subcategories. The term "oracle" was intended to mean "source of truth and wisdom", and the term "officious", rather than being related to the word's normal meaning, described the many office workers who would use the Yahoo! database while surfing from work.
